Book of Remembrance entry

Arts : Gunner, 54th Battery, Siege Artillery, A.I.F., France. Joined Royal Australian Garrison Artillery in February, 1915, enlisting with the whole regiment, 4th June. Sailing 15th July for England and training at the Siege Artillery School, Lydd, crossed to France in February, 1916, and, with several Scottish regiments, took part in first attack on Vimy Ridge, thence going south to support 29th Battn. in Beaumont Hamel sector in July. Then served at Martenpuich, Corcelette, Flers, Thiepval, Delville Wood, Butte de Warlancourt and elsewhere till wounded near Pozieres 8th December and evacuated to England, returning to Australia 13th December, 1917. Early education at Edgecliff Road, Balmain, Murwillumbah and Maitland Public Schools.
