M.C. and Bar, M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France. Enlisting and sailing 23rd March, 1915, arrived in London 1st May and was R.M.O. 15th Divisional Train (Scottish New Army) in June. Crossing to France in July served with 45th Field Ambulance and as relieving R.M.O. 7th and 8th Battns., The King's Own Borderers, 9th Black Watch and Cameron Highlanders, succeeding Captain A. C. A. Jekyll (killed n th May, 1916) as R.M.O. 13th Royal Scots. Wounded at Loos in September, 1915, and at Mametz Wood 10th August, 1916, when evacuated to England. On recovery was with ambulance till July, 1917, when transferred to 56th Bde. R.G.A., being with it at Passchendaele and elsewhere till April, 1918. Was R.M.O. 13th Battn. (The Rifle Brigade) from 13th May, 1918, at Bapaume, Solesmes, Le Quesnoy and Jolimetz till 4th November, when wounded slightly, but remained with battn. in advance to Charleroi where accidentally injured in March, 1919, and evacuated to England. After three months at Aldershot resigned commission in October and returned 2nd August, 1920, after a post-graduate course. Promoted captain 23rd March, 1916. Awarded M.C. in June, 1917, for work at Arras, and Bar 4th November, 1918, at Jolimetz. Early education at The King's School, Canterbury (England) and Sydney Grammar School.
