Maxwell, Duncan Struan

Book of Remembrance entry

M.C., M.B. : Captain, 52nd Battn. and 3rd A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting in 3rd A.L.H. Regt. 19th August, 1914, and sailing 19th October, landed in Gallipoli in May, 1915, and fought till 13th December, when invalided to hospital, Alexandria. Rejoining regt. near Wardan, Egypt, in March, was transferred to 52nd Battn. on formation at Tel-el-Kebir on 14th, commissioned on 17th and served on Suez Canal until 9th June and, crossing to France, on the Somme and in Flanders. On 1st April, 1917, was appointed A.D.C. to G.O.C.
