Joining in London in August, 1914, served with the Queen of the Belgians' Hospital at Ostend and La Panne, 1914-15, Wounded Allies' Relief Hospital, Montenegro, 1915-16, British Red Cross Convalescent Depot, Egypt, 1916, and W.A.R. Hospital, Limoges, 1917. Awarded Montenegrin Red Cross and Orders of Danilo and the Nile. Early education at Riverina Grammar School, Albury.
