D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 29th October, 1914, and sailing in November with No. 2 Australian General Hospital, served at Gallipoli with 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, crossing with it to France. Transferring to 2nd A.C.C.S., was surgeon specialist 1917-18, and returned on 1914 Leave 31st December. Promoted major, 14th November, 1916. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches twice. Early education at All Saints' College, Bathurst. Later at St. Paul's.
