Arts I and Econ. I : Lance-Corporal, 24th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 25th April, 1916, and sailing 31st October as corporal with 17th Reinforcements, joined battn. at Mametz near Albert 9th May, 1917. Served as Lewis gunner at Broodeseinde, Daisy Wood (Passchendaele), Ville sur Ancre and Mont St. Quentin, where wounded 31st August, but remained with battn. until demobilisation. Early education at Lismore High School. Later at Teachers' College.
