Book of Remembrance entry
Arts : Sergeant, 1st Machine Gun Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 18th July, 1916, and sailing 24th April, 1917, after four months' sickness, joined battn. in France in April, 1918, and served until shell shocked at Mericourt 20th September and evacuated to hospital. Upon recovery was put on clerical work at Australian General Base Depot, Havre, from December, 1918, to June, 1919, and then on three months' tour under A.I.F. Education Scheme prior to demobilisation.
