B.Ec. : Sergeant, 55th Battn., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 24th August, 1916, and sailing 25th October with 7th Reinforcements, joined battn. at Bullecourt in May, 1917. Was attached to Pay Corps H.Q., London, in January, 1918, and returned for demobilisation as ship's pay sergeant. Promoted extra regimental second-corporal, 15th November, 1918; E.R. sergeant, 10th January, 1919.
