M.C., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France. Enlisting in London 9th March, 1915, served throughout the War, although gassed. Then was with British Forces in Ireland for 12 months, demobilised, and in 1921 went to Lagos in British Government Service. Promoted captain, 9th March, 1916. Awarded M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School and King's College, Goulburn.
