Book of Remembrance entry
Arts I : Private, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 18th September, 1915, and sailing 28th March, 1916, with reinforcements, arrived in France via Egypt and England 16th July, joined 7th Australian Field Ambulance 1st September and served as stretcher-bearer at Ypres and on the Somme until mortally wounded at Flers, 14th November. Died of Wounds, near Becordel, 16th November, 1916, and was buried in Dartmoor Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt. Early education at Prince Alfred College, Adelaide. . . . It is from them (his University chums) that we have since received testimony of his quiet bravery.
