Book of Remembrance entry
M.A. (Oxon. et Syd.) : Senior Chaplain, A.I.F., England, France, Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting 27th June, 1916, after service in Liverpool Camp, 1914-16 and sailing in July, was attached to 14th Training Battn. in England 30th October, and to 3rd Battn. in France from 23rd December till invalided to England in April, 1917. On recovery was attached to No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, El Arish, 11th September, and to H.Q. Anzac Mounted Division in Palestine 27th October, serving as Senior Chaplain during the Advance from Beersheba to Jerusalem and until July, 1918, when invalided from Jordan Valley to Egypt and Australia, arriving in September. Early education at The King's School. Later at Balliol College.
