F.I.A. (Lond.), Lecturer in Insurance Mathematics: Lieutenant, R.G.A., B.E.F., England and France. Sailing for England 21st July, 1915, was commissioned in Artillery 7th October and for a time was with the Coastal Forces and a member of the first anti-aircraft school. Then transferring to a heavy howitzer battery which participated in the hardest fighting of the German Offensive in March, 1918, served until demobilisation in England, although slightly wounded near Nine Elms, Somme, 11th May, and seriously at Epehy 19th September, returning to Australia via Canada. Promoted lieutenant, 1917. Early education at Marist Brothers' High School, Darlinghurst.
