Eng. : Private, 21st Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in March, 1916, and sailing in November with 21st Reinforcements 7th Battn., when 18, joined 21st Battn. and served until evacuated to England, gassed, severely ill and slightly wounded from Ypres sector in October, 1917, returning to Australia in March, 1918.Early education at Cleveland St. Intermediate High School.
