Book of Remembrance entry
B.E. : Lieutenant, 5th Pioneer Battn. and 1st Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 25th July, 1915, and sailing 7th September with 10th Reinforcements 1st Field Coy., Engineers, joined coy. in November and served at Anzac until the Evacuation, when invalided to Lemnos and Egypt. Transferring to 14th Coy. 12th March, 1916, and to 5th Pioneer Battn. on 23rd, was commissioned next day and crossed to France in June. Served at Fleurbaix, Somme, Bullecourt and Menin Road, where wounded 25th September, 1917, and invalided to Australia, arriving 12th March, 1918. Promoted lieutenant, 6th July, 1916. Early education at Sydney High School.
