Book of Remembrance entry
Eng. Ill : Lieutenant, 4th Divisional Engineers, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 25th August, 1915, in 7th Field Coy. and sailing 27th November, transferred to 4th in Egypt 6th March, 1916, and, crossing with it to France, was at Pozieres and elsewhere. Transferring to 4th Divisional Engineers H.O. 29th January, 1917, served at Bullecourt, Messines, Polygon Wood, Passchendaele and Villers-Bretonneux till death. Promoted second-lieutenant, 15th December, 1917; lieutenant, 15th March, 1918. Killed in Action by aeroplane bomb, Villers-Bretonneux, 2nd May, 1918, and buried in Aubigny British Cemetery (Somme). Early education at Newcastle High School.
