Book of Remembrance entry

B.A., M.B.; D.P.H. (Oxon.), F.R.A.C.P. ; D.S.O., V.D., : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Being R.M.O. 4th Battn. in August, 1914, and sailing 10th October, served with it from the Anzac Landing until invalided a month later to hospital in Cairo, and, on rejoining unit in June, until the Evacuation. Then was D.A.D.M.S. 1st Division at Lemnos and Tel-el-Kebir until the end of January, 1916, when appointed Senior Bacteriologist, A.I.F. Hospitals, Cairo. At the end of February returned to the Field as O.C. 14th Australian Field Ambulance in Sinai Desert and continued in France till September, 1917; was then appointed S.M.O. to a Hospital Carrier in October, returning to Australia in December. Awarded D.S.O. 4th June, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.D.M.S. 1st Cavalry Div., 1921, and 1st Div., 1926-29. Hon. Lecturer in Pathology. Early education at Sydney High School.
