O.B.E., V.D., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.C.S., F.R.A.C.S. : Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli and Palestine. Enlisting in October, 1914, and sailing 25th November on surgical staff of No. 2 Australian General Hospital, was, after three illnesses, returned as S.M.O. hospital ship Kyarra in June, 1915. Sailing again 31st July as S.M.O. troopship Orontes , rejoined hospital at Cairo in September, transferring to 1st A.L.H. Field Ambulance at Gallipoli and being R.M.O. 13th Battn. at Lemnos in October and Gallipoli from November till the Evacuation. Was in charge of Surgical Section, No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital at Tel-el-Kebir and Port Said from February, 1916, to October, and then R.M.O. 3rd A.L.H. Regt. till February, 1917, being present at Battles of Maghaba and Rafa. Was on surgical staff No. 14 A.G.H., Cairo, till August, then organizing and commanding Desert Mounted Corps Field Operating Unit until invalided from Jordan Valley to No. 14 A.G.H., Port Said, in August, 1918, returning as S.M.O. troopship Wiltshire in October. Promoted major, January, 19 16; temp, lieutenant-colonel, March, 1917, and lieutenant-colonel, September. Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : O.C. 14th and 9th A.F.Ambs., 1921-22; A.D.M.S. 1st Cavalry Division, 1926-30. Lecturer in Clinical Surgery
