B.Sc.Agr. : Captain, 30th Battn., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting in August, 1915, was commissioned in October and, sailing in February, 1916, became musketry instructor in Egypt, and later in England. Transferring to 30th Battn. in October, crossed to France in December and served at the Somme and Ypres III till death. Promoted lieutenant, 29th October, 19 16; captain, 13th May, 1917. Killed in Action, Battn. H.Q. near Ypres, 19th November, 1917, and buried in La Plus Douve Farm, Ploegsteert. University Medallist, Walter and Eliza Hall Research Fellow, Belmore Scholar and Maiden Prizeman. Early education at Erskineville Public and Fort St. High Schools. Later Cadet, State Agricultural Department, and one year in Arts. He was absolutely full of grit and determination and universally loved by all. He died in doing his duty . . . -J. W. Clarke, Lt.
