Enlisting 5th June, 1915, and sailing with battn. 16th June, 1916, was commissioned in England 19th August and, crossing to France in November, joined battn. at Armentieres and served through 1917, returning to Australia in May, 1918. Promoted lieutenant, 19th April, 1917.
