M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in August, 1914, and sailing with No. 3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station in May, 1916, as S.M.O. troopship Wandilla , served with 9th Australian Field Ambulance from 7th December, 1917, until demobilisation. Promoted major, 26th April, 1917; lieutenant-colonel, 1st November, 1918. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney High School. Later one year in Arts.
