B.A. : Lieutenant, General List (Education Service) and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 16th July, 1917, and sailing 19th December, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, until 4th October, 1918. Then going to Cadet School, Cambridge, became Education Officer at Australian Base Depot, Havre, till May, 1919, when put on non-military employment and extended leave, returning in March, 1920. Promoted second-lieutenant 30th October, 1918; lieutenant, 1st February, 1919. Member of Teachers' College.
