Book of Remembrance entry
D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 25th March, 1915, and sailing 12th May with 5th Australian Field Ambulance, was with it at Anzac, becoming R.M.O. 1 8th Battn. in November. Crossing to France, remained with ambulance until 15th December, 1916, and then with 3rd until 7th November, 1918, when transferred to 6th, serving till demobilisation. Promoted major, 14th November, 19 16; lieutenant-colonel, 20th November, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches twice. Early education at Mudgee Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
