13.3.16, Pte. 5th Btn. rfts.; landed in Egypt 1.5.16, and embarked for France 1.6.16, joining unit in France 29.7.16.
On 4th October 1917, at the battle of Broodseinde, he was engaged on a machine-gun outpost in an advanced part of the line, and was killed by the bursting of a shell. He was buried at Garter Post.
