Enlisting at Aldershot 12th April, 1915, and sailing 29th May, served at Cape Helles from 21st June to 3rd January, 1916, in Egypt to September, 1917, and in Palestine to November, 1919, returning to Australia on demobilisation in January, 1920. Rhodes Scholar, 1912. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at Balliol College, Oxford.
