M.A.; Ph.D. (Jena) : Captain, General List, 5th Division and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 6th July, 1915, and sailing 10th November, served as hon. lieutenant with 8th Australian Field Ambulance in Sinai and France till January, 1917, being at Fromelles and on the Somme. Reorganized 1st Anzac Corps Intelligence School from July to September, 1917, and was at the Somme, Hindenburg Line Retreat, Bullecourt, Lagnicourt, Polygon Wood, Passchendaele, Messines, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere. Was Intelligence Officer in charge of Australian Corps Prisoners of War Cage in September and October, during the Le Verguier Advance and the Breaking of Hindenburg Line
