Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M., Diploma in Tropical Medicine : Private, 31st Battn., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 24th July, 1915, and sailing 9th November, was nine months in training and on Suez Canal Defences. Crossing to France in June, 1916, fought in Fleurbaix sector till wounded at Fromelles 19th July and evacuated to hospital in England, going later to convalescent camp. Returning to France after nine months, served till gassed at Vormoozeele in March, 1918, and on recovery again rejoined battn., returning to Australia after twelve months' medical service in Belgium after the Armistice. Early education at Maryborough Grammar School. Later at Queensland University.
