C. de G., M.B., Ch.M. : Major, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., England, Malta and France. Enlisting in London 12th October, 1914, was at training units and hospitals till May, 1915, when sent to Malta, remaining there till February, 1916. Returning to England and crossing to France in May, was wounded on the Somme 25th December. On recovery served from March, 1917, until demobilisation, then returning to Australia. Promoted captain, October, 1915; major, February, 1918. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
