Book of Remembrance entry
Econ. : Gunner, 37th Battery, A.F.A., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 2nd October, 1916, and sailing 19th December, joined battery in September, 1917, and served at Ypres, Somme, Spoilbank, Somme, 1918, Defence of Amiens and August Advance. Gassed at Rosieres 20th August, 1918, and sent to Rouen General Hospital and Convalescent Depot, Buchy, for three months, returning to battery 13th November. Was on non-military employment at Manchester University (special course) until demobilisation. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at Teachers' College.
