Book of Remembrance entry
B.A. : Private, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 5th October, 1915, and sailing 1st May, 1916, served as stretcher-bearer with 9th Australian Field Ambulance in Messines, Ypres and Villers-Bretonneux sectors. Wounded at Gentelles 2nd April, 1918, and evacuated to No. 15 Canadian General Hospital, Taplow, and then to No. 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford. On recovery sent to No. 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 28th May, serving until demobilisation. Early education at Maitland High School. Later at Teachers' and London Day Training Colleges.
