Promoted corporal in 1917 and S.Q.M.S. in 1918 as Chief Clerk, Q Branch, serving until demobilisation. Mentioned in Despatches. Secretary, Hospitals Commission of N.S.W. Early education at Leichhardt Superior Public School. Later one year in Arts.
