Book of Remembrance entry
Arts : Lieutenant, Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment, B.E.F., France. At the outbreak of War tried to enlist in A.I.F. as lieutenant, but was debarred until 23; so, sailing for England in April, 1915, was upon arrival in London at once commissioned as lieutenant in Leinster Regiment. Proceeding to Cork, was appointed O.C. Regimental Bombing School and, crossing to France in August, 1916, fell within five weeks, while leading a raid on the enemy line. Killed in Action, Armentieres sector, 1st September, 1916, and buried in Quarry Cemetery, Montauban. Early education at St. Aloysius' College, Downside Abbey, England, and Sydney Grammar School.
