Econ. : Lieutenant, 1st Australian Tunnelling Coy., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in February, 1916, after three rejections, was commissioned in September and, sailing in October, crossed to France 29th December. Served till invalided to hospital in March, 1917, and demobilised in February, 1918, after five months in Randwick Hospital. Early education at Sydney High School. Engineering Apprenticeship (five years) and later at Teachers' College.
