Enlisting 25th September and sailing in December, 1916, served with No. 2 Coy. on the Somme in 1917 and No. 5 at Ypres, Messines and Amiens, 1917-18, returning for demobilisation. Early education in Victoria at Kensington and Victoria Parade State Schools. Later at Teachers' College.
