Book of Remembrance entry
B.E. : Corporal, 6oth Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 29th January, 1916, and sailing 4th May, arrived in England via Egypt and France in August. Crossing to France 12th November, joined battn. xst December, having previously missed it in Egypt through being sent to Isolation Camp. Promoted corporal 21st February, 1917; wounded at Bullecourt 12th May and evacuated to hospital in England, rejoining battn. 5th March, 1918. Wounded again at Villers-Bretonneux 27th April and evacuated to hospitals in France, England and Australia, being discharged 24th December, 1918, after 13 months at Randwick. Early education at Hoxton Park Public and Sydney Technical High Schools.
