Book of Remembrance entry
B.A., Sci. II : Captain, 18th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 3rd March, 1915, and sailing as second-lieutenant 25th June, landed at Gallipoli 21st August, was wounded on 22nd and, returning from hospital to battn. in October, remained there until the Evacuation. After three months in Sinai Desert crossed to France and became Intelligence Officer of battn. and Gas Officer to 2nd Division 31st July. In January, 1918, acted as Corps Chemical Adviser but was invalided to England in February. In June appointed Gas Officer, No. 2 Area in A.I.F. Depots, Salisbury Plain, and in August Officer in Charge of Gas Training in the Depots stationed at H.Q., Tidworth. Was demobilised in United Kingdom 2nd March, 1920, and returned via U.S.A. Promoted lieutenant, 17th October, 1915; captain, 14th August, 1916. Mentioned in Despatches. Member of Teachers' College.
