Book of Remembrance entry

M.C., B.E.; M.D., Ch.B. (Edin.) : Major, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France and Salonika. Enlisting 1st August, 1914, attended Officers Training Corps, Edinburgh, and joined 80th Field Ambulance as lieutenant, crossing to France in September, 1915. Going in 1916 with 26th Division to Salonika, was second in command of Ambulance till December, 1918, when seconded to Greek Army, 9th Regiment. Returning from Roumania in January, 1919, was demobilised in Scotland in May, later returning to Australia. Promoted captain, 25th July, 1916; major, 4th January, 1918. Awarded M.C. and Greek M.C. (2nd Class) and Mentioned in Despatches. South African War : Trooper, 1st Tasmanian Bushmen Corps, 1900-01. Early education at Hutchin's School, Hobart.
