Book of Remembrance entry
B.A. : Lieutenant-Colonel, 12th A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli and Palestine. Enlisting 4th May, 1915, and sailing as captain with 12th A.L.H. Regt., was transferred to 7th on 29th August and then served at Gallipoli until the Evacuation. Returning to 12th as second-incommand 22nd February, 1916, was appointed temporary C.O. 22nd June, attending Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, in December. Fought in Sinai Desert, at Romani, Katia, Rafa and Gaza, where wounded in second battle while leading his double squadron 19th May, 1917. Promoted major, 1st June, 1915; lieutenant-colonel, 22nd July, 1916. Died of Wounds, in ambulance train, El-Arish, 24th May, 1917. South African War : Captain, Mounted Rifles. Early education at All Saints' College, Bathurst. Later at St. Paul's.
