McDowall, Valentine

McDowall was involved in establishing the Queensland Radium Institute (1945- 1991). Aside from medicine he was a pioneer in the field of radio and television, broadcasting live music in 1921 in Brisbane.

Book of Remembrance entry

M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.P. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and England. Enlisting and sailing in June, 1915, served at No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, transferring to 2nd Australian Field Ambulance n th January, 1916, and 14th on 24th February. Joined No. 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, 20th June, going with it to Bulford, England, and returning to Australia in July, 1917. Hon. Consulting Radiologist, Hospital for Sick Children, Brisbane. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
