Enlisting in London in August, 1914, and crossing to France on 20th, served with Lady Dudley's Australian Voluntary Hospital, Wimereux, and later as R.M.O. 8th Warwick and 6th Bedford Regts., returning to Australia in November, 1917. Awarded M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at St. Ignatius' College.
