Book of Remembrance entry
Dent. I I : Sergeant, 13th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 21st August, 1915, and sailing with 30th Battn. reinforcements, transferred in Egypt to 13th Battn. and, crossing to France in June, fought at Fleurbaix and the Somme till wounded at Pozieres in August. Rejoining the battn. in March, 1917, served till death. After being wounded, was reported Missing and six months later, as there was no notification of his being Prisoner of War, recorded Killed in Action . Killed in Action, Hindenburg Line, n th April, 1917. Commemorated in Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School.
