Enlisting 26th May, 1915, and sailing 8th October with 10th Reinforcements No. 2 Australian General Hospital, served with 1st A.L.H. Field Ambulance from 7th January, 1916, until demobilisation. Promoted staff-sergeant, 26th May, 1916, and regimental quartermaster-sergeant, 9th February, 1919. Early education at Newington College.
