D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 14th September, 1914, was employed at intervals in Sydney till November, 1915, and, sailing n th December, returned from Egypt with invalids. Re-embarking in February, 1916, joined 15th Australian Field Ambulance on Canal Defences and, crossing to France in June, served till invalided to England in April, 1917. Later was at No. 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, and in March, 1918, invalided to Australia as S.M.O. transport Llanstephen Castle with invalids. From May, being unfit for further service abroad, was O.C. No. 4 Australian General Hospital, Randwick, till 1920. Awarded D.S.O. 4th June, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : O.C., 1st Cavalry Field Hygiene Section, 1931-32. S.M.O. Defended Ports, 2nd Military District (N.S.W.). Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
