Book of Remembrance entry
B.A., Sci. II : Company Sergeant-Major, 3rd Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli. Enlisting 14th October, 1914, and sailing on 20th, was with battn. at The Landing at Gallipoli and served with great pluck until death next day. Killed in Action, Wire Gully, 26th April, 1915, at sunset, and buried in Quinn's Post Cemetery, Anzac. Early education at Walkerston State and Brisbane Grammar Schools. His name had been for some time on the list for promotion to commissioned rank and I am sure he would have done well. He had no fear.
