Book of Remembrance entry
Sci. : Lieutenant-Colonel, 55th and 54th Siege Batteries, R.A.A., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in A.I.F. with R.A.G.A. (Regulars) 1st September, 1915, and sailing on 8th with 1st Australian Siege Brigade, reached France in May, 1916, and joined 55th Battery, serving through Somme, Mailly-Mailly, Bouzaincourt, Fricourt, Contalmaison and Pozieres. Took part in battle of Arras in April, 1917, and transferred to 54th Battery in May, engaging in battles of Messines, Nieuport and Ypres. Attended Artillery Senior Officers Course in England in November and December, and, returning to battery at Ploegsteert in January, 1918, remained in position during Northern retirement at Ploegsteert, Neuve Eglise and Westoutre. Retransferring to 55th Battery in May, was severely wounded at Bailleul in June and evacuated to hospital in England in July, being sent in August to Military College of Science, Woolwich, and, graduating July, 1920, was retained at the Arsenal until return by mail steamer in October.
