Book of Remembrance entry
M.C., M.B., Diploma in Psychiatry: Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 29th August, 1916, and sailing 16th December, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, from 4th July, 1917. Joining 2nd Australian Field Ambulance 28th July, was R.M.O. 1st Divisional Train from 12th September, 1917, to 20th April, 1918, and of 1st Coy. A.A.S.C. from 21st May, 1918, to 27th March, 1919, returning for demobilisation. Awarded M.C.* at Menin Road in 1917 and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Scotch College, Melbourne, and Fort St. High School. * In addition to his ordinary regimental duties he accompanied a daily convoy of 30 G.S. waggons detailed for road repairing. He attended to the wounded in the open irrespective of units under extreme difficulties and heavy shell-fire.
