Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting in October, 1914, and sailing 18th December, served with 4th Australian Field Ambulance from the Landing until wounded 27th August, 1915, and evacuated to England, returning to Australia with sick and wounded on troopship Suevic. Re-embarked 20th June with 10th A.F.Amb., taking unit to France via England and serving with it till 25th January, 1918, when appointed R.M.O. 38th Battn. Transferred to No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 13th May, returning to Australia in October. Promoted major, 1st March, 1916. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Christian Brothers' (Perth, W.A.) and St. Ignatius' Colleges. Later at St. John's.
