D.S.O., V.D., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 20th August, 1914, and sailing 23rd September with 1st Australian Field Ambulance, served at Gallipoli from the Landing till invalided to England (under compulsion) in September. Went to No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 18th May, 1916, crossing with it to Brighton. Rejoining 1st A.F.Amb. 25th November, was appointed O.C. 2nd on 1st April, 1917, and Surgeon, No. 2 A.G.H., Wimereux, 3rd September, 1918, serving there till the Armistice and returning as S.M.O. troopship Argyllshire. Promoted major, 18th May, 19 16; lieutenant-colonel, 1st April, 1917. Awarded D.S.O. 3rd June, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : A.D.M.S. 1st Div. 1934-. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at St. Andrew's College with one year in Arts.
