Book of Remembrance entry
M.C., B.A. : Captain, 18th Battn., A.I.F., Egypt, France and England. Enlisting in October, 1915, and sailing with 10th Reinforcements 18th Battn., was on Suez Canal Defences and, crossing to France in March, 1916, took part as Lewis Gun officer in all Somme fighting. From January to May, 1917, was Adjutant 5th Training Battn. at Rollestone, England. Rejoining battn. at Bullecourt, fought until wounded at Mont St. Quentin 31st August, 1918, and evacuated to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth. Again rejoining battn. in November, served until demobilisation. Promoted second-lieutenant, 6th January, 1916, and lieutenant, 14th August; captain, 9th July, 1917. Awarded M.C. for work at Pozieres and Mentioned in Despatches. Cooper Scholar, Salting Exhibitioner and Cooper Graduate Scholar; University Medal
