B.A. : Gunner, 38th Battery, A.F.A., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 4th January, 1917, and sailing 5th November, joined battery in France, being gassed at Hamel 10th August, 1918, and discharged in September, 1919, medically unfit due to gun concussion and shell shock. Early education at Parramatta High School.
