M.M., Pharmacy : Staff-Sergeant, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st March, 1916, and sailing 19th September, served with Australian Field Ambulance as stretcher-bearer from January, 1917, at the Somme, Bullecourt, Ypres, Passchendaele, Villers- Bretonneux, Bellicourt and until demobilisation. Promoted staffsergeant dispenser, 4th July, 1919. Awarded M.M. at Bullecourt and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Newington College.
